Opening Day of Baseball

The 2011 season of baseball has officially begun! To open the season both of the boys' teams participated in a parade around the D-Votion field, which was followed by the singing of the National Anthem (Next time I'll plan on plugging my ears! Where do they find these people?!?) For being their first games, both of the boys did really well. Noah scored one solid single, stole 2nd base, and earned one RBI. Jackson scored two solid singles and earned one RBI.

Noah's team is the Wolves. (He is kid holding the sign on the right side w/glasses).

Jackson's team is the Scorpions. (He is the 3rd kid from the right w/the silver bat and glove.)

Jackson running to third base.

Mr. Science

Noah was chosen this week as one of three kids from his class of 28 students to participate in the school's Science Olympiad team. He'll join about 18 other students from the school as well. On May 14th, his school team will get to compete against other surrounding schools in a big competition. Way to go Noah!

The Little Tree That Could

We've been growing a few citrus trees on our back patio ever since we moved into this house. Earlier this year, a got a surprise cold freeze that killed our lemon tree, or so we thought. I purchased a replacement and transplated the dead looking tree into a 5-gallon paint bucket, not sure if it would ever come back. Much to my amazement it has started to come back. One entire side of the tree started sprouting leaves about a month ago and then it started to flower. Now, just this week, the other side of the tree is starting to sprout and flower buds are ready to open. This little tree has come through seemingly fine and full of life more than ever! Now we just need to make sure Mr. Max doesn't mess with it and it should be ready to transplant again soon!

Choir

This past semester the boys' music teacher started an after-school choir for grades 3-8. Noah joined and had his first performance last night at the school's carnival. This morning, they had their second performance at the Estrella Mountain Church pancake breakfast. His final performance is this coming Monday for the school board. Noah was able to memorize ALL his songs and has done awesome! (Not the same can be said for the girl soloists... eek!)

Apparently not many of the parents got the letter about dressing "smart." At least Noah looked professional both nights!
