Max-ism: Ear Whispers
Just something funny I noticed about Max tonight... when he wants to tell you something quietly, like a secret, he puts his ear up against your ear and then whispers really soft. It's funny because he thinks his ear has to be touching yours in order for you to hear him. If you try to turn away, he turns you back to him and matches your ear back up to his before he whispers. So funny!

Half-Time Cheer
Alora, along with over 120 girls ages 4-14, got to cheer for the Wolves vs. Scorpions game this past Friday night. The Wolves scored the first 7 points within minutes of the 1st quarter, but the Scorpions quickly scored 7 more touchdowns before the 4th quarter even began. Obviously it wasn't a great night for the Wolves, but our little cheerleaders did a great job and were so incredibly cute out on the big field! Alora got to stand in the front row and she didn't show any fear at all. She did amazing!

GO! WOLVES! GO!
As a fundraiser for the high school cheerleaders, they invite the younger kids (grades K-8) to participate in a week-long cheer camp. After four hours of practice, they then get to cheer at half-time for the school football game. Alora missed the chance last year, but we got her in this year. Tonight was her first practice and she LOVED it!
They divided the kids into three groups, based on age. Alora was in the youngest group, ages 4-6. Even though she was one of the older kids, she was still the smallest. She actually seemed to catch on pretty quickly and wasn't even shy. I think the combination of having some friends there and having taken dance for a year was a definite help!

Alora's Pirate Party
Ever since last summer, Alora has asked that her next birthday party be a pirate party. Not just a regular ole' pirate party, but a girls-only pirate party. I secretly hoped she would change her mind, but she never did. So, we ended up throwing her a pink pirate party and it actually turned out pretty well and she loved it.

Five Brown and Speckled Frogs
Imagine my surprise when I found a large frog (or is it toad) while mowing our lawn! I covered it with our butterfly catcher and ran to get Jeremy (I wanted him to catch it). He managed to catch him while I continued mowing but then I found another frog! He quickly caught that one also. We were pretty amazed that we found those two guys in our yard. Afterall, we live in a desert! But then I found another one, and another one, and another one! FIVE LIVE FROGS in our backyard, most of which the lawn mower had run over.
We showed all the kids, which thought they were pretty cool. We then took them over to our friends' house that night to show all the other kids. They were all pretty excited. We ended up taking them down to the pond at the golf course across the street from our friend's house and let them go.
No Pain No Gain
This past Friday afternoon Alora got her ears pierced. One of her 6th birthday gifts we gave her was the opportunity to get her ears pierced, which she excitedly accepted. Two weeks later, we finally were able to take her. She was super excited up until the technician started cleaning her ears and then marking the positions. I ended up having to put her on my lap and hold her hands down so the tech could place the earrings. She wailed, of course, but after a minute or so, she calmed back down and decided she LOVED her new earrings.
