Winter Basketball

Both Jackson and Max are playing Winter Basketball this year through Estrella Youth Sports (EYS).  The club team for Noah didn't work out, so unfortunately he isn't playing on a team.  He does play at the park quite frequently with his friends, so that helps. 

 

Being Max's first year, he hasn't quite learned exactly how to play basketball, he just knows you get the ball and shoot.  It's actually been quite fun to see him improve each game.  At his age level, they don't enforce the rules, but he's not afraid to get the ball anymore and he loves to shoot.  This past game he even made 3 baskets! 

 

Jackson's team is 2-2 so far.  They've had some good competition and this past game lost in overtime.

Basketball Ends

The boys' basketball season officially ended this morning.  Jackson's team placed 3rd out of 8 teams and Noah's team placed 5th out of 6 teams.  Both teams had a lot of 1st-year players, inlcuding Jack and Noah, but they still did pretty well, even despite some tough competition.

Suns vs. Mavericks

Jeremy, Noah & Jackson went with their (Uncle) Ryan tonight to the Suns vs. Mavericks game down in Phoenix.  Since the boys have been pretty into basketball lately, they were stoked to attend.  They even got to go down on the court after the game and shoot a free throw!

Basketball Begins

Noah and Jackson have decided to try out basketball this season.  Both boys typically play baseball, but lately they've really been into basketball as well.  Noah (and I think even Jackson) play it almost every day at school, but I don't know how well they actually play. 

Noah's team is the Wolvez.  He plays with 5th and 6th graders and is coached by the guy who formed the Estrella Youth Sports (EYS) organization.  His first game was today and sadly they were whooped.  Noah wasn't super aggressive, but covered his opponent pretty well.  Hopefully his team will win next week.

Jackson's team is the Dunkers (yes, the Dunkers) and is composed of 3rd and 4th graders.  When the boys first choose their team name I thought they were saying the "Duggers," as in the family on T.V. that has 19 kids.  But I guess that's the name the boys use for their team at school.  Despite quite a few fouls the first half of the game, the kids all did pretty well.  They even won their first game... way to go DUNKERS!
