This afternoon was Alora's baptism. She has been having crazy meltdowns the past month with school and church, but had been pretty much okay knowing her baptism day was coming. However, last night was a different story. From out of nowhere she started freaking out about not wanting to get baptized. We almost thought we were going to have to postpone the whole thing.
Our photographer had to cancel Alora's baptismal dress photo shoot due to a complicated pregnancy-big bummer. So, despite some initial grumpiness on her part, I still managed to snap a few quick photos of her down by one of our community lakes this morning. As luck would have it, a rainbow randomly appeared behind her as I snapped the photos (totally appropriate for the "I Like to Look For Rainbows" song and the cover of her program!).
When it came time for the actual program, she was surprisingly calm and almost excited. However, once she saw the font being filled, she freaked out and tried running out of the building. It wasn't until she actually got in the water that she regained her calm and almost excited attitude.
As she was getting dressed back into her white dress, she told me she felt bad for the person being baptized after her because all her sins were in the water. She also said her curls disappeared along with her sins. Kind of funny.
We weren't able to get many pictures because of her meltdowns, but at least we made it through the program!
