Our New Feathered Additions

Two weeks ago the kids discovered a very messy nest that had been constructed on our front balcony.  I initially thought it was from a disgusting pigeon, but after a little research, I realized it was a dove's nest.

I decided to let it be because the eggs inside were supposed to hatch after only two weeks.  Fast forward to this afternoon... we have two, teeny-tiny little babies that just hatched!  mother

Family Fun in Show Low

Last week the kids and I joined my entire family up in Show Low, AZ for a fun weekend at the Wiggins Family Cabin.  We planned on fishing a lot, but it was so windy that the fishing was horrible, and despite the cabin having fun "toys" like a pool table and air hockey table, the kids weren't permitted to make the outside fires they were planning on.  Everyone still had fun and we improvised making s'mores in the fireplace.

Alora caught the first and largest fish of the weekend.

Grandpa caught the most fish but they were so tiny.

Look in the fish's mouth!

When you can't build a fire outdoors, you improvise inside.

Catching crayfish

Uncle Teaaron hold "Billy Bob Joe," a crayfish Jackson caught for the kids.

A huge 3-4' snake we stumbled upon while checking out the area at Fools Hollow Lake to fish.

Grandpa foolishly thought he could pick up the fish because he didn't think it was poisonous.

Opening Day & a Game

Today was the opening day of EYS (Estrella Youth Sports) baseball.  Alora could have been on the kid pitch division, but chose to stay back on the coach pitch division.   She is only one of two girls on her team.  She played her first game of the season today, against the Green Dragons.  Her team, the Wolves, killed it with a final score of 20-3.

Max is the also on in the coach pitch division.  His team, the Red Dragons, will play their first game next Saturday.  He is only one of two boys on his team.

Flag Football

This Fall, Jackson and Max decided they wanted to try Flag Football.  Jackson normally plays Fall baseball through the City of Goodyear, but after last years ridiculous season, we thought it would be a good change.  Max has always wanted to play football and he was lucky enough to put on a team with his best buddy, Drew, and his brother Will.
