Tough Guy

Max has had a cold off and on for the past month. At his 6-month check-up two weeks ago, his cold was gone, but there was fluid in both of his ears. They weren't considered ear infections yet, but the doctor told us to keep careful watch over him and if his cold symptons returned, to bring him back in. Well, the cold did return and after seeing him miserable the past couple of days, I took him back in this morning. Turns out he doesn't have any ear infections (although there's still a little fluid in his left ear), he does indeed have a cold, and then he has asthma! ASTHMA! Crazy... Noah had similar symptons when he was Max's age, which was later diagnosed as full-on asthma, but I never really considered this with Max (although Jeremy did). Insurance companies don't like kids under age 2 to be diagnosed with this, but the doctor didn't seem to have any problem with the diagnosis. So, that being said, Max has to take an oral steriod for 5 days and then use albuterol in the nebulizer until his wheezing stops. Poor kid, as if teething and a cold weren't enough, he has to deal with this! Good thing he's a tough little guy. (I hope the steriod doesn't make him any bigger! Ha, ha.)

Noah helping Max with his nebulizer treatment. (How cute is that?!)

oh man! Our lives coincide too much. We have Mary and Annie as our asthma girls--it's so sadly sweet seeing them with the nebulizer. I hope he's doing well with it
