Good-bye To Our Little Miss Ruby

Today is a sad day in our house, especially for Jackson.  After almost 2 months of having a puppy, we have come to the hard decision that we need give her away to a better family.  We certainly gave her all the love she could ever need, but we have realized that we are not dog people, and we are unable to give her all the attention and training she needs.

These past two months with Ruby have been both exciting and frustrating.  The kids have loved having her lick their faces, chase them in the park, and curl up next to them to nap.  On the other hand, being a puppy (she's almost 6 months old) has proven to be more than what we can handle.  She has chewed off Barbie hands, chewed the Wii sensor bar wire in three sections, chewed a chunk of carpet off the bottom stairs, and repeatedly "left her mark" in all the areas she should not have, and that's just the beginning.

When we told the kids last night about our decision, Jackson was devastated.  He literally cried himself to sleep and then threw up twice during the night.  We tried to reassure him that Ruby was going to a better place, one where she could be a puppy and have the attention just on her.   Her new family does not have any kids and the owners are super excited to get her (the husband actually works with my dad, so we can get updates if desired).  Hopefully after a few days, or even sooner, Jackson will realize this is for the best.

We will never forget the time we spent with Ruby and the wild adventure she provided us thes
e past 2 months.  We love you Ruby!
