Are You Kidding?!

Okay, so I'm a little perturbed.  Remember the incident that occurred at my kids' school this past Friday?  The attempted abduction?  I was curious as to what the latest updates were on the case and this is what I found on the police website:

Update: Goodyear Attempted Child Abduction – Victim Recants Statement

GOODYEAR, Ariz. –On Friday, May 10, 2013, a 12 year old Westar Elementary School student reported that a man in a white van attempted to abduct her on the way to school. Today, that student recanted her story to police and admitted that she fabrica...
ted the entire story. Although the girl gave police a description of a person, and a white van was seen in the area, the incident never happened.

The Goodyear Police Department takes all crime reports very seriously. The first priority of the department is to ensure the safety of our residents and visitors, therefore, many resources were mobilized to investigate this case. Goodyear Police would like to remind the community that false reporting is a serious crime. This case will be turned over to the Juvenile County Attorney for review.

WHO: Goodyear Police Department

WHAT: Attempted Child Abduction Incident Recanted

WHEN: Friday, May 10th at 7:30-7:45am (date and time of reported incident)

I'm extremely glad this never really happened, but am upset that this girl decided to make up this story.  Noah missed out on his school 5k and ice cream social (given by the mayor).  Jackson has had anxiety issues and hasn't slept well the past few nights.  I'm sure other families feel the same way.  How frustrating!
