Bite-Sized

"Small but Mighty" was what her Kindergarten teacher called her.  So very, very true.  She might be small, but she sure can pack a punch!  Her school friends like to run over and pick her up when they see her.  Not sure the real fasination with that- she's only a head or so shorter than them, but whatever the reason, they do it ALL THE TIME (especially the art teacher's daughter, Ella).

Alora recently had her yearly well-child check-up.  She weighed in at 36.4 pounds and was 41 inches tall.  We knew she was on the smaller side for kids her age, but when the doctor said she was at both the 3rd percentile for weight and height, I was a little surprised.  That means 97% of kids her age are bigger than her!  Based on her current measurements, the doctor predicted she would only be 4'11" as a adult, way off from her 2-year old predicitions of 5'6" (give or take 2").  He was kind of baffled as to when and why she had such a huge growth slowdown.  Up until age 2, she was always right below the 50th percentile, but still on the growth curve for her.  Somewhere between age 2 and 6 she just slowed down.  She slowed WAY down.

Because of this huge discrepancy, Alora has been referred to a pediatric endorcrinologist.  Hopefully this specialist will be able to better see where and when the slowdown began and maybe be able to help her catch up to where the majority of kids are at her age.

I loved the blog catch up. Your family is so cute! I love sweet little Alora. She fits a lot of spirit into that cute little frame. Good luck in figuring things out. :)
